Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will head to Vita if its Kickstarter campaign is a success

WayForward's HD Shantae game Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will appear on PS Vita (and the newly announced Vita TV micro-console) if the company reaches its $400,000 Kickstarter campaign goal.

Last week, the developer behind Contra 4 and Mighty Switch Force started a funding campaign for an all-new adventure starring belly-dancing human / genie hybrid Shantae. The game was planned for Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

Now, though, WayForward has added Vita to the list of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero target platforms.

"It's not a Stretch Goal, just part of the package," the team says.

The Shantae series includes GBC swan song Shantae; Shantae: Risky's Revenge on DSiWare and iOS; and upcoming eShop game Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.

They're all top platformers, set in grand interconnected worlds, in the spirit of classic console games Metroid, Castlevania, and The Legend of Zelda.

The Shantae: Half-Genie Hero campaign has already attracted over $200k in donations. The campaign closes on October 4th.
