iPhone's Sentinel: Mars Defense celebrates Bonfire Night by going free for a week

Remember remember, the 5th of November; outer space, ray guns and war

iPhone's Sentinel: Mars Defense celebrates Bonfire Night by going free for a week

London-based developer Origin8 is encouraging us all to look toward the sky for explosions and destruction tonight, though it's not talking about fireworks.

It's sci-fi tower defence game Sentinel: Mars Defence is going free for one week from 6PM tonight (November 5th) to celebrate the valiant efforts of Guy Fawkes in attempting to reclaim the government's ill-spent second home allowance.

But Sentinel: Mars Defence isn't a particularly political game (unless you're a native Martian). It's a sci-fi strategy game set on the Red Planet as you attempt to repel the alien invasion by building turrents on the path to your base.

It's sequel, Sentinel 2: Earth Defence, picked up a Silver Award recently, so if you're looking for a few extra fireworks this November 5th, hit the 'Buy It!' button after 6PM (GMT) and check out the first game for free.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
