Longtime readers (and I do mean longtime) may remember back in 2020 when the innovative new RPG Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin hit storefronts. While not available on mobile, back in the day, we used to cover more handheld releases. And wouldn't you know it, almost five years later, it's coming back and this time to mobile!
Yes, Sakuna is coming to mobile with the newly announced Sakuna: Hinuka Junreitan. For those not in the know, the original Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin follows the titular, spoiled goddess of agriculture being banished to an island of demons for her hubris. From there, Sakuna must reconnect with nature, guide a group of mortals, and, of course, clear the island of monsters.
She does all this by growing, you guessed it, rice! But as we noted back in the day, this is a mechanic that's far more than just a tacked-on addition. Rice has an effect on your combat abilities when you jump into the side-scrolling battles against a host of Japanese-style mythological monsters.

Of Rice and Ruin rightly captured the imagination of players and even received its own successful spin-off manga and anime series. The latter of which only ended last year, and now the follow-up Sakuna: Hinuka Junreitan is set to bring it back to iOS, Android and consoles!There aren't too many details right now, other than the fact that Sakuna is now going to be accompanied by a new character named Hinuka. But fans can also look forward to a return to form with rice cultivation, adventure and other new innovations. So keep an eye on us, and the official site for more info!
