Paint by numbers

- SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered is out now on iOS and Android
- It features classic mechanics from the SaGa series and new additions for Frontier 2
- Experience classic JRPG action in the palm of your hand
For many of us younger players, the 90s JRPG scene is primarily defined by classics like Final Fantasy. But that drastically underrepresents how many great roleplaying releases there were at the time, perhaps best exemplified by the SaGa Frontier 1 & 2 series. Now you can try out the second instalment in this classic duology, as SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered is now available on iOS and Android!
SaGa Frontier 2 is arguably most defined by its watercolour graphics, which look to have been faithfully translated into this rerelease. It also boasts a rather intriguing story system, where you play as aristocrat Gustave and commoner Will, but also experience fragments of the SaGa Frontier world's history by playing as other characters.
SaGa Frontier 2 also sees the return of the glimmer and combo mechanics from the previous release, the former of which allows you to learn new abilities and techniques in the middle of combat! That's on top of the aforementioned History Choice system for playing out the world's past and more.

Naturally, SaGa Frontier 2: Remastered features both enhanced graphics and a redesigned UI to fit the new platforms that it's releasing on. It also features high-speed functionality to take advantage of greater hardware capabilities, and that much-loved addition of a New Game+ mode to let you spend even more time in its world.
While Square Enix may be, unfortunately, cutting down on their other mobile releases, it's good to see that ports of their classic catalogue are still going strong. Be it series like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, these look to be great new ways to introduce younger players to classic series.
