RuneScape’s content has just begun flowing after last month’s Runefest 2025 event. The Golden City of Menaphos is on the brink, and you can now dive into the chaos with the release of Pharaoh’s Folly, the second quest in the Return to the Desert storyline. Available now, this scorched and story-rich instalment pushes you deeper into the unravelling fate of the Kharidian desert.
Following the events of Beneath Cabbara’s Sands, the situation in Menaphos has gone from bad to worse. Osman’s betrayal has fractured the city, Amascut’s dark presence continues to spread, and what’s left of the once-glorious metropolis now teeters on the edge of collapse. As the sands shift and danger stirs beneath the surface, it’s up to you to uncover buried secrets and stop Osman.
Teaming up with Leela, some returning faces, and even a few new furry companions, you’ll face the treacherous Shifting Tombs and uncover revelations that will forever change the fate of Menaphos. The stakes are high, and this time, no matter the outcome, the city will never be the same again.
Completing Pharaoh’s Folly comes with its share of powerful rewards. Alongside a solid boost of Thieving and Agility XP, you’ll earn the title The Rabble-Rouser and the new bracelet, Leela’s Favour. This useful piece of gear lets you teleport instantly to all four districts of Menaphos, as well as the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon, Shifting Tombs, and any active Soul Obelisks, making traversal smoother.

To take on this fiery new challenge, you'll need Slayer level 87, completion of Beneath Scabaras' Sands, progress on Phite Club, and the fort buildings from the Fort Forinthry storyline. When you’re ready, speak to Leela outside Menaphos and rally the resistance. The desert’s future depends on it.
