RuneScape’s epic Desert saga finally concludes in Eclipse of the Heart, live now

RuneScape’s recent Crafting 110 update might’ve been all about skill mastery, but this week’s content drop is pure storytelling power. After 24 years and a trail of broken alliances, buried secrets, and sand-choked ruins, the Desert questline finally reaches its climax. Eclipse of the Heart is live now, wrapping up RuneScape’s longest-running saga with an apocalyptic flourish.
The Desert questline in RuneScape began with a lost prince. Now, it ends with the Goddess of Destruction. Set beneath a dying sky over Menaphos, Eclipse of the Heart throws you straight into a high-stakes showdown with Amascut, the Devourer. You must gather your allies, piece together ancient truths, and stop the Queen of Destruction from feeding on the city’s heart.
This final chapter doesn’t hold back. Expect new cutscenes, updated visuals, and a stack of rewards for those brave enough to see it through. Finishing the quest unlocks a brand new title, desert-themed cosmetics for your Lorehound companion, the Amascut’s Eye skybox, and four hefty XP lamps clocking in at 250,000 XP each.
There’s also upgraded Magic Carpet Dust and some handy toggleable buffs waiting for you at the end. Completing Eclipse of the Heart also sets the stage for Amascut’s arrival as a full boss encounter on August 4th. The Devourer isn’t just an NPC anymore; she’s about to become a serious test of skill and strategy.

You’ll need to be a RuneScape member and have 90 Necromancy, 65 Agility, and several key quests completed to take this on. If you’ve finished Pharaoh’s Folly, Do No Evil, and built out your Fort Forinthry storyline, it’s time to head back to the desert. One last time.
