Reverse: 1999 celebrates reaching over one million pre-registrations with a brand new character trailer
The highly anticipated mobile anime gacha RPG Reverse: 1999 is celebrating reaching over one million pre-registrations with a brand new trailer for a previously unrevealed character; the enigmatic genius inventor X. This scientist specializes in “useless inventions”, using his wit and intelligence to create odd bits and doodads, and according to the trailer, he seems to be a bit of an oddball overall.

Reverse: 1999 has remained one of the most hyped-up releases of this year, mostly due to a pretty intelligent marketing strategy with some of the most visually stunning trailers I’ve ever seen, especially for a mobile game. It reminds me quite a bit of the HoYoVerse games at face value, but the whole vibe of the world has this sort of melancholic Arknights-esque feel to it as well. This creates quite an intriguing combination of inspirations, and I’m excited to see how it shapes out.
Where things get more exciting is with every character reveal they put out, and X is no different in that regard. His trailer shows off his laissez-faire attitude as his airship is robbed by criminals and he pays them no mind until they mention stealing his coffee through the door, which seems to put a spark in him. So, yes, this is a classic quirky scientist obsessed with the coffee archetype we’re dealing with.
Despite the cliche, X remains one of the more fun characters revealed from Reverse: 1999 thus far in my opinion. Whether it’s that heterochromia in the eyes, the lab coat, or the rather superb voice acting, I couldn’t say, but he has caught my eye amongst the cast the developers have shown off.
If you’re interested in getting to know X as well, you can do so when Reverse: 1999 launches on October 26th. In the meantime, why not pre-register for the game at either of the links below?
