The Reigns series is one which allows you to explore many different worlds, be that the medieval period, ancient China or even realms of fantasy such as The Witcher. But now, Reigns: Beyond takes things to the next level and into space as the latest entry in the series lands today!
Reigns: Beyond once more offers a compelling narrative for you to follow, as you lead an intergalactic indie rock band on a tour of the cosmos. It's a somewhat more intimate story that follows your struggles, successes, and attempts to make sure that you don't run out of oxygen partway through your journey.
Long may you reign
If you're not familiar with Reigns, it may be worth explaining exactly how this all works. Essentially, Reigns is a choose-your-own-adventure where you'll have to manage various factors outside your control, with your decisions directly affecting them. In this case, it's the success of your band and, well, whether or not you asphyxiate to death.All of this is rendered in a very palatable, flat and minimalist style. And while it may not be the most visually stunning game out there, Reigns: Beyond does tickle that part of my brain that loves flat colours and simple, stylised aesthetics.
For my money, I reckon that if you're a fan of adventure games, story or really, any kind of dramatic plot with just a hint of absurdity, then Reigns: Beyond will be well worth playing. So keep an eye out for it on iOS and Android!
