Rainbow Islands Evolution confirmed for PSP
Third classic Taito remake headed for Sony's handheld
Many say three is the magic number. PSP-friendly publisher Rising Star Games will certainly be hoping so, given that its two previous attempts at bringing past Taito arcade legends up to date – Bubble Bobble Evolution and Space Invaders Evolution – haven't exactly troubled the charts.
Third time out for the Evolution series is loveable puzzle platformer Rainbow Islands. The game delighted many '80s players with the juxtaposition of its candy-coloured visuals and challenging gameplay, which involved a boy keen on firing pretty (but pretty deadly) rainbows at the many enemies populating the screen while making his way to the top of each level.
No details have yet been revealed with regards to what Rising Star intends on reworking the original formula, although our review of the Revolution version on DS should give an idea of what to expect.
