Rainblocks is an upcoming fast-paced puzzler that combines tile sliding with colour matching.

It's a new iOS game by developer Eric Koziol that is slated for release on June 12th.

The colourful pixel-art is by Dominik Johann, while the music is supplied by Mega Man composer Manami Matsumae.

So, if nothing else, the presentation is sure to be stellar.

It's raining again

But Rainblocks is also an interesting puzzle game on account of its succinct design.

It limits you to a 3x3 grid with one tile always empty so you can slide the others around. You then have to find a way to put tiles of the same colour side-by-side to score.

You're up against a time limit and can slow time and gain more precious seconds by matching tiles with power-ups inside.

On top of that, some tiles will turn to ice and need to be smashed. Furthermore, you'll have to swipe mud off when spread.

You can expect Rainblocks to keep your fingers as busy as your brain on June 12th, then. It will be free to download and supported by ads.

However, you can splash out on a 69p / 99c IAP to remove the ads. That IAP also gives you the ability to start playing on the highest level you've reached.

We'll remind you about Rainblocks once again next week.
