PSPgo launches in UK, no Minis to play on it

UPDATE: Here they are.

With the PSPgo fully launched and in stock, early adopters will be keen to get some digital downloads running and put their sliding screen into action.

After shelling out so much for the new PSP console, however, your average gamer won't have much left in their pocket to start buying full price games (especially if they're replacing old UMDs).

Which is why we've been so excited about PSP Minis and the wealth of digitally downloaded content we've been promised, and why we're so disappointed to see PSPgo's lining the shelves with no Minis on the UK PSP Store.

We know we shouldn't expect PSN Game Cards in Europe until next week at the earliest, but the US has a small but eclectic selection of seven PSP Minis ready all hungry gamers who blow the dust off their Sony handheld. So where are ours?

A firmware update was issued, which we'd hoped would update the Store straight away and let us jump into that bite-sized gaming goodness, but alas, nothing yet. Europe consists of more territorial and languages than the US, which could be the reason for the delay – the logistics are considerable (although other companies, like Apple, manage global launches with seeming ease).

We'll be keeping an eye on the PSP Store throughout the day, and we'll let you know as soon as there's something Mini to report.

If anybody's seeing any changes to the Store across Europe or the rest of the world, make sure you let us know in the comments section below.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
