Its most unlikely partnership since Mario and Sonic?

We thought we'd seen it all when Mario and Sonic stepped onto the running track side by side for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. But it seems Sega hasn't finished surprising us with its strange choices of gaming partnerships just yet. That is if this news reported by Siliconera is accurate.

The publisher has apparently now formed a partnership with make-up manufacturer Shiseido to create a game called Project Beauty. Going by its title, the game is a million miles away from what we all know and love Sega for - that is classic arcade games such as Outrun and Virtua Fighter. Instead it's the sort of game we're starting to associate with Ubisoft.

The game's full translated Japanese title is actually Shiseido Beauty Solution Supervised Exploration Center Project Beauty, which implies strongly it's going to be some sort of make-up teaching tool, and it's going to come in a very big box to fit that name on.

The plot thickens with Japanese retailer Play Asia listing the game as coming with something called a 'DS scan' - apparently the GBA cartridge slot camera Nintendo bundled with Adult Face Trainer last year - which leads us to imagine the game is going to let you scan in your face then slap virtual make-up on it.

Sega is set to release Project Beauty on November 27th in Japan. We'd like to say we hope it gets a European release at some point, but we're actually not that fussed. Although scanning in people's faces and daubing them with red lipstick could be fun for about five minutes.

We'll keep you posted.
