Fans of 16-bit RPG parody Fara will be interested to know that its developer, Pixel and Texel, is hard at work on a follow-up.

Rather than go down the 'obvious sequel' route, Pixel and Texel is producing an all-new game that it's calling - appropriately enough - Project 2. We somehow doubt that's its final name.

Anyway, fresh images and details of Project 2 have been posted on the Pixel and Texel website.

The game will apparently feature side-on "fast paced, arena style combat" requiring "twitch gameplay skills to survive the horde, combo enemies, and discover new items".

Take 2

Other than the fantasy setting, it sounds completely different from Fara, which was a gentle top-down adventure game.

Pixel and Texel also promises "a deep crafting system for new weapons, armour, potions, and enchantments" and a host of character customisation options.

Project 2's visuals are also far removed from Fara's stylised 16-bit approach. Instead, it's all large, crisp-edged 2D sprite work and dense backgrounds.

The developer is apparently working on a bunch of cool new stuff, including multiplayer. It started Project 2 back in December 2011, so hopefully the game is nearer the end of the development cycle than the beginning.

We'll bring you more info on it as soon as we get it.
