Prohibition 3: Candy Wars approved for iPhone

Catamount Software is celebrating today with a nice cup of tea and a quiet sit down as Apple has passed its drug dealing remake of the underground classic Dope Wars, called Prohibition 2: Dope Wars.

Of course Apple wouldn’t allow such a salacious theme onto the hallowed corridors of its unsullied App Store. What Catamount’s done is sugarcoat its game (quite literally) and turned it into Prohibition 3: Candy Wars - a reskinned version of the exact same game.

The premise now revolves around the abolition of candy in 2040 to combat the obesity epidemic sweeping across the world.

As a sweet-toothed profiteer and saccharine narcotics dealer, it’s up to you to distribute illegal sweets and chocolate to children hanging around the street corners, who’re are battling off their cold turkey shakes.

Prohibition 3: Candy Wars now uses pixie dust instead of guns, sugar sticks instead of cocaine, brownies instead of weed and rock candy in place of crystal meth - all euphemisms real drug dealers are likely to employ anyway, only now the game’s apparently no longer distasteful.

Catamount makes no qualms about this being a stunt to get the game through Apple’s approval process, and since the content is practically the same – only without actually saying it out loud – Prohibition 3: Candy Wars is simply playing (and winning) the unfair game of a much bigger opponent.

The game is set to arrive just as Underworld – another game based on the old DopeWars classic – has been forced to distribute to jailbroken iPhones after its rejection from the App Store.

The whole thing could almost give you toothache, eh?

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
