It's unclear how frequently mobile games receive sequels when compared to console and PC games, but they can draw a lot of attention. Following the quirky little RPG Postknight, people were curious about continuing the adventure in Postknight 2. It's a novel idea in which postal workers are warriors who brave treacherous trails to make their deliveries. Because of this, your character gets to train in the use of various armour, weapons, and accessories so that they can fight all kinds of monsters and enemy humans. You can train to be the toughest, but even the toughest can use a little helping hand.

In this game, this help takes the recognizable form of many small animals called Pets. There is a wide variety of animals and monsters roaming the trails of Postknight 2's world. Some of them look ferocious while others look quite adorable. With time, you can learn more about these creatures until you decide that you want an animal companion of your own. It gets lonely on those long deliveries with enemies getting tougher and tougher. With the help of taming and a very special character, you can have a Pet by your side to bolster your character.

How to Unlock Pets

Pets are one of the newer features in Postknight 2 acting as your faithful companions on your deliveries. However, you will need more time to find any right away. First, you need to play the game until you reach Rank C. You can track your rank progression in the Postknight Handbook which lists all the tasks that you need to complete to take the qualifying exam to rank up. Once you do, you need to play through the main stages until you reach the capital city of Caldemount. Then, you need to play through the Caldemount stages until you reach and complete stages 3-9. Be prepared as the enemies are comprised mainly of hard-hitting rabbits and other animals that can charge and knock you back. After you complete that stage, a cutscene will be played involving the character Leila. She will tell you that she runs a shelter for animals and encourages you to adopt some.

Leila's Services

After you've spoken to Leila, she'll become active as a merchant. She'll always be located at the far right end of Caldemount before the exit. Talking to her brings up the Adopt option which allows you to look through all the pets she has available. They can only be adopted if you donate enough Crystals with the lowest price being 480 Crystals (you can earn more through completing quests, converting Prism Crystals, or buying them from the shop). When you buy a pet, it will appear beside you ready for action.

Leila also provides a cosmetic service for pets called Grooming. To do this, approach her with your current pet companion and select the option. Keep in mind that every time you want to groom a pet, it will cost you 1200 coins. After you donate, Leila will offer you a choice of three styles which differ based on the pet. Select one and you'll see it appear on your pet as a new hairstyle. You can switch between the styles for free until you decide on one you like. This is a completely cosmetic change and won't affect the pet's stats or behaviour.

What Do Pets Do?

Zenkoban pet and the one that got sold out

While most video games would have you expect pets to fight alongside you, Postknight 2 is different. Despite the colourful appearance, the delivery missions can be quite dangerous and they're no place for cute little animals to get hurt. When you start a mission, your pet will appear to cheer you on before retreating to a safe distance to support you. Each pet provides a passive bonus to one of your stats. They can range from boosting your Stamina to improving your Magic Damage reduction, but you can only have one pet with you at a time. When you're in hub areas like towns or the entrance to the Dungeon, your pet will happily follow behind you and will cheerfully play and chatter.

Caring For Pets

Postknight 2 character talking to his pet

Like with non-virtual animals, your Postknight 2 pets need tender love and care. When you adopt one from Leila, it starts with its bond at two hearts, similar to the various characters you can befriend throughout the game. However, their bond can be strengthened much faster and more easily. To do this, go to the Pet House and click the pet you want to examine. You can then click the Details button to learn about the pet's Likes and Dislikes. Use this to determine their favourite foods and then click the pet to get the option to feed it.

If you feed it a food that it likes, its bond will go up by one heart and a mark will appear on the food to remind you. Feeding a pet food it doesn't like marks it as well for future warning. You can also change the pet's appearance in the Pet House, but each option will cost you around 240 Crystals. Keep an eye on your pet's bond level as it will drop over time which will remind you to keep them fed.

That would be the complete pet guide, and if you're eager to know more about the game, here are the best builds in Postknight 2.
