Despite a successful launch, February was a bit of a rocky month for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The somewhat botched incorporation of trading went down like a lead balloon and required more than a bit of damage control. Fortunately, as we head into March, things are becoming a little more balanced, especially with a chance to nab fan-favourite Pokémon Gible in the newest Drop Event.
From March 3rd to the 17th, Poke-fanatics can jump into the event and duke it out in solo battles to win Promo Pack A Series Vol. 5. Naturally the headlining Pokemon in these cards is the humble Gible, a Dragon & Ground-type Pokémon who boasts a fierce personality.
Of course, Gible isn't all that's available in these packs, and the great thing about Pokémon TCG Pocket's promo events is that, unlike some other releases, you get plenty of additional cards with their own uses to add to your deck.
The trading disaster, even if it's a bit strong to call it that, is certain to be a make-or-break moment for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Promo events such as this have proven popular but they also don't do much that isn't already done by other popular digital TCGs, so I reckon that we'll have to keep a closer eye on how more distinct features like trading are changed over the coming month to see if Pokémon TCG Pocket can continue to stand out.
It's certainly doing well on the downloads front, having passed over 100 million as mentioned before. But that's to be expected for something from such a mainstay of the TCG scene.
