Pokémon Go marks the debut of Dondozo in the upcoming Sunkissed Shores event
The summer of debutants continues

- Dondozo makes its debut in raids and encounters
- Regional Oricorio and Tatsugiri also up for grabs
- Field and Timed Research will provide a myriad of rewards
Niantic is making a splash this summer with the Sunkissed Shores event, set to run from August 25th to the 31st. The star attraction is the big, blue heavyweight from Paldea, Dondozo, who will make its Pokémon Go debut in both raids and encounters, with a Shiny chance right from the start.
In the Sunkissed Shores event in Pokémon Go, you’ll be able to get your hands on the Big Catfish Pokémon while raking in 2x XP for winning in Raids. Wild spawns will get a beach-themed refresh, with Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, and Lechonk all appearing more often. Oricorio in all four styles and Alolan Exeggutor also make occasional appearances.
Raids will feature region-exclusive Tatsugiri forms in one-stars, Curly in Europe, Droopy in the Americas, Stretchy in Asia-Pacific, alongside visor-wearing Slakoth. In three-stars, you’ll find Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and of course, Dondozo itself. All three can be Shiny if luck’s on your side. You can also check out our Raid schedule for August to maximise your journey as a trainer!

Meanwhile, Field Research tasks will grant encounters with event Pokémon, while two types of Timed Research add extra goals. A free Timed Research offers up to 10,000 XP, 7,000 Stardust, and themed Pokémon encounters. The paid Timed Research ($1.99) includes 3,000 Stardust, two Premium Battle Passes, and encounters with visor Slakoth and Dondozo.
Finally, for collectors, the Pokémon Go Web Store is adding limited-time ticket bundles. The Sunkissed Shores Ultra Ticket Box includes an event ticket and three Max Revives, while the Berry Chic Ultra Ticket Box offers an event ticket with five Ultra Balls, both priced at $1.99.
Don’t forget to be on the lookout for Shadow Kyogre as well, who joins Pokémon Go beginning August 16th during the ongoing Taken Over event. And once you're through with that, prepare for the Max Finale, which is going to be an absolutely mind-boggling adventure.
