Pokémon Go’s second Ultra Unlock event will feature Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash

If you’ve just wrapped up reading about time distortions and catching Hisuian Zorua, Pokémon Go has already revealed the next Ultra Unlock. Steel and Scales kicks off July 22nd, and it’s bringing sharp new faces from Kalos to the party. Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash slash their way into the spotlight with their long-awaited debut.
Pokémon Go’s second Ultra Unlock event keeps the bonuses strong with 4x XP and Stardust for catching Pokémon, plus boosted chances for Shiny Bagon, Beldum, and Unown U in raids. But those aren’t the bonuses you should look forward to most.
A big addition is that Honedge and its evolutions aren’t just for the wild, they’re entering the Go Battle League. Starting at Rank Six during the event, and Rank 16 afterwards, you’ll be able to snag them through reward tracks, with a better rate on the premium path.
Wild encounters skew heavily toward metallic and dragon-like Pokémon, with Magnemite, Dratini, Aron, Noibat, and Ferroseed all popping up more often. If you're lucky, you might spot Shiny Rookidee for the first time. And for those who like a challenge, Axew and Goomy are also on the map, if you can track them down.
Raids get a sturdy reshuffle too. Honedge joins the One-Star lineup alongside Unown U, Gible, Klink, and Deino, while the Three-Star pool includes Skarmory, Bisharp, Dragalge, and Turtonator. Not all of them can be shiny, but many can, so it’s worth checking the raid rotation closely if you’re chasing sparkle.

Themed Field Research Tasks and Collection Challenges round out the event, rewarding XP, Stardust, and extra encounters for those who stay organised. The event will run until July 27th, giving you nearly a week to unlock everything.
