Pokémon Go will release numerous celebratory events ahead of the Pokémon World Championships 2025

Pokémon Go is joining the party for the 2025 Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California, set to run from August 15th to 17th. Top Trainers from around the world will compete to be crowned World Champion, and if you’re watching from home, there’s still plenty to do, beginning with a code for a commemorative 2025 Worlds Tee (White) which will drop during the day one stream.
To mark the occasion, a varsity jacket-wearing Pikachu is making its debut, with a chance at its Shiny form too. This themed Pikachu will show up in one-star raids, Field Research tasks, and even in the wild. Raids will also feature Lapras, Honedge, Dusclops, and Diggersby. Keep an eye out for Lapras and Pikachu with increased Shiny odds during the celebration.
There’s also a $5 Timed Research ticket offering encounters with Lickitung, Sableye, Guzzlord, and more, alongside 25,000 Stardust and a Premium Battle Pass. Special evolutions come with exclusive Charged Attacks, too. Primeape and Annihilape will learn Rage Fist, while Clodsire gets Megahorn. You’ll also find themed stickers at PokéStops, Gifts, and the shop, plus some exclusive avatar gear.
Furthermore, from August 11th to 17th, the Go Battle League gets a makeover with a new arena and background music. And during Go Battle Weekend, you can complete up to 100 battles per day, earn 4x Stardust from wins, and pick up free Timed Research with battle-themed avatar rewards. Pokémon in GBL will also show wider stat spreads for Attack, Defence, and HP.
