August is quite a packed month in Pokémon Go, but more so for Pikachu fans as the franchise’s mascot is going to show off its style over the next few weeks. Just yesterday, I covered that Pikachu will be donning a varsity jacket to celebrate the Pokémon World Championships 2025. And now, the next stop is Goal Time with Pikachu, a football-themed event exclusive to Indonesia.
Running until August 9th, Goal Time with Pikachu celebrates Indonesia’s passion for football by collaborating with the Indonesia National Football Team. You’ll find jersey-clad Pikachu appearing in wild encounters, Field Research tasks, and raids. If you’re lucky, you could even find its Shiny variant.
The event also highlights the favourite Pokémon of real Indonesian footballers: Witan Sulaeman’s Charmander, Viny Silfianus’s Pikachu, and Arlyansyah Abdulmanan’s Eevee. All three will appear in the wild, joined by Voltorb, Hitmonlee, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Alongside the themed encounters, you’ll get boosted bonuses, double XP for good throws, double Buddy Catch Assist, and extended Incense durations. A Collection Challenge featuring the jersey Pikachu will also be available, so don’t forget to complete it before time runs out. As the month builds toward the Pokémon Go Fest 2025: Max Finale on August 23rd-24th, this Pikachu celebration is just one stop on the road to even bigger encounters. The Max Finale will mark the first global appearance of Eternatus, the legendary Gigantic Pokémon from Sword and Shield.
Plus, a rotating lineup of Gigantamax Pokémon, Toxtricity, Butterfree, Snorlax, Gengar, and Lapras, will take over Max Raids across the two-day event. More events are still on the way this August, including Cozy Companions, a Munchlax Raid Day, and Taken Over featuring Giovanni. But for now, lace your cleats as Pikachu’s suiting up for the pitch.
