Prepare for an unusual mix of golf and dungeon crawling as Par for the Dungeon releases next month

At the risk of receiving a host of stern but polite tuts, golf is one of those sports that plays much better as a video game with an arcade-style spin, and the latest to wedge their foot in this door is Toronto indie devs Sleeping Giant with their upcoming dungeon-crawling golf extravaganza Par for the Dungeon.

It was an average day for the hero of our tale, Cal the golf ball, until suddenly the menacing Bogeys attacked, and committed that most trecourious of sins and stole our protagonist's dog. Now, it is up to you to help Cal go all John Wick on these baddies to reclaim his friend. All in a family-friendly way, of course.

Par for the Dungeon looks like it would be your standard mini-golf-inspired adventure, however, when the golf ball whips out a bow and arrow and snipes someone within ten seconds of the trailer, it’s obvious this is much more fun. The aim of the game is still to get your spherical ally into the hole in as few moves as you can, but there are a lot of puzzles in between you and there.

Throughout your journey, you will be able to kit out Cal with a variety of items from the store such as grappling hooks and laser wands to assist him in over 100 insane levels, each with their own tricky challenges. You will need to solve puzzles through inventive use of your gear, perfect timing, or when all else fails, bodyslamming your enemies on the way to rescuing your canine companion.

One very noteworthy thing about the development of Par for the Dungeon is that throughout the development process, Sleeping Giant has been cataloguing the whole journey through their YouTube channel. From playtest sessions to character concepts to every bug they found, it is a behind-the-scenes goldmine for those who enjoy that type of thing.

Par for the Dungeon will be available to download free from the App Store and Google Play on November 21st. You can pre-order it for your preferred platform by clicking the links below.
