THQ acquires mobile developer, Universomo
Here's to even more mobile games

THQ has acquired Finnish mobile games development studio, Universomo. The studio has never published games, only developed them, and has a portfolio with an emphasis on licensed mobile ports.
We enjoyed the Universomo-developed Lego Star Wars II for mobiles back in January, and so hopefully this new acquisition will fund more quality mobile conversions of some big franchises.
It seems like buying up small mobile games developers is the thing to do just now if you are a large and established software company. THQ joins EA Mobile, Namco and Eidos, each of whom has recently bought a smaller mobile specific publisher or brought some mobile specific talent on-board to help secure its position in what is clearly a lucrative market.
