Dive, kick, it's all in the mind

Hello! Your usual host, Mike, is currently at Gamescom in Germany, playing games and swigging Krankenwagen from a lederhosen, or something.

So, you'll have to make do with me, I'm afraid.

Anyway, it's been a rather good week for PS Vita owners. Not only did Sony announce a metric tonne of hot new Vita games, but it also saw fit to fill up the Vita store with exciting new stuff to download.

There's hot new cross-platform and Cross Play fighter DiveKick, a much-anticipated zombie adventure, and a huge multiplayer beta.

Start charging your Vita and pull out your debit card - it's going to be a long night.

Full-price releases Divekick

Divekick is, apparently, the world's first two-button fighting game. All you can do is jump and kick. But that doesn't mean that the game has no strategy or depth, of course.

According to developer Iron Galaxy, "now anyone can experience the thrill of fighting games without memorizing complex combos and finger-contorting button presses."

The game's got local and online head-to-head multiplayer, and a single-player story mode. It's £7.99 in the UK and $9.99 in the US ($7.99 with PS Plus). You'll also get the PS3 edition as part of your purchase.

Vita owners in the US will finally get a chance to play Telltale's outstanding zombie adventure The Walking Dead. You'll get the complete first season and the 400 Days DLC for $19.99.

For those of us on this side of The Pond, however, Telltale says, "look out for The Walking Dead on Vita in Europe very soon."

US Vita owners can also get colourful puzzler Ms. Germinator for $9.99. We gave predecessor Germinator a 6/10, and said "Germinator is rather sketchy in its execution, but offers fairly solid Bust-a-Move gameplay."

Fancy playing LittleBigPlanet as The Last of Us duo Joel and Ellie? That's the idea behind a £2.39 / $2.99 costume mini-pack, which also works with LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3.

And there's a piece of free DLC for Soul Sacrifice. It's called The Cobbler Triplets and the Old Master, if that means anything to you.

Sales, price drops, and PS Plus Killzone Mercenary

If you've got a subscription to PlayStation Plus, you'll now be able to download and play the Killzone: Mercenary open beta. It's available in both the UK and US, and you can get loads more info on it here.

There's a pair of sales on for PlayStation fans in the US.

There's a Japanese sale, with price cuts on games like Street Fighter X Tekken, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and New Little Kings Story.

And there's a fan expo sale, with discounts on titles like Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack and Guacamelee!

Check out all the games on sale and their new price points here.

PlayStation Mobile releases AikCommando

Three new games on PlayStation Mobile this week.

First, there's AikCommando (£4.79), a game about killing rainforest creatures while reading quotes from The Bible.

There's also some kind of puzzle game called Magic Planet Snack Deluxe (£3.39).

And there's Touch Speed Fighter (40p), a two-player game about competing to see who is faster at touching screens.

I seriously don't even know. Mike will be back in Blighty next week. Bye!
