TestFlight owner Burstly acquired by Apple
Beta testing platform now in Cupertino giant's hands
Burstly, the company behind app beta testing platform TestFlight, has been acquired by Apple the Cupertino giant has confirmed.
The deal comes a matter of hours after Burstly announced it was terminating the Android version of TestFlight to 'refocus on iOS'.
Testing times
Details on the deal are especially thin on the ground, though an Apple spokesperson confirmed the move in a typically sparse statement.
"Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," the spokesperson detailed.
TestFlight isn't the only platform Burstly operates – app monetisation platform SkyRocket is also on the company's books, while mobile analytics solution FlightPath has already been shuttered less than a year after it entered beta.
The future of TestFlight – a mainstay for scores of mobile developers across the globe – is therefore up in the air, though optimists have been quick to suggest it points towards Apple bolstering the testing platform's capability, bringing it into the fold on a far more official basis.
