Tablet war heats up in the US as Amazon hijacks iPad searches with Kindle Fire comparison site
Fire, I'll take you to learn
Amazon US is ratcheting up the heat in the tablet 'war' this Christmas, by deliberately leading customers towards the Kindle Fire when they search for an iPad.
Typing Apple's machine into the US online retail giant's website displays a cheeky link to a comparison site between the two platforms at the top of the page.
Details compared include such things as screen size, pixel density, weight, storage, content, and more.
Naturally the website depicts the Amazon machine as superior in almost all areas, and includes a link to purchase the Fire (but not the iPad) at the end of it.
Whether Amazon's sneaky tactics will pay off is still to be seen, although early reports indicate that the Kindle Fire has been a roaring (sorry) success.
