Retailer GAME might not be very happy at some of the prices Morrisons has started selling video games at this week, but it's certainly good news for gamers.

The supermarket chain is offering brand new DS games - which reportedly include Spore Creatures, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Kung-Fu Panda, WALL-E, Imagine Girlband and The Sims 2: Apartment Pets - for £12 each. All previously retailed at £24.99 or more.

Today, the Guardian newspaper predicts GAME could be forced into price matching the Morrisons deals, which also extend to PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii games (selling at £25, £25 and £15 respectively), but not PSP ones.

Altium Securities analyst David O'Brien told the newspaper:

"The opening salvo in what could turn out to be a very bloody war was fired yesterday by Morrisons. Game Group has a price promise and as a result will be forced to match the levels offered by the food retailer.

"We think it highly likely that other retailers will follow suit in the run-up to Christmas, resulting not only in Game Group being forced to price match but also to increase its promotional spend in the press and on TV."

Various sources are claiming Morrisons's mass game price cuts will end this Sunday (September 14th). Stocks are also likely to sell out quickly too, so you might want to get in there soon.
