Sony's forthcoming Android tablet S1 now called the 'Tablet S'
|

We’re still waiting to see how Sony’s first two attempts at cracking the tablet market perform, but it does seem that the company has had a change of heart when it comes to the name of one of the devices, at least.

The Android tablet formerly known as the S1 has now been renamed the 'Sony Tablet S' in the run-up to its launch in the autumn.

Maybe people would have been confused as to what the device was with the original name?

Sony doesn’t appear, however, to have ‘done a Samsung’ and followed this name change up with a root and branch reform of the specs. So, that means it’s still a 9.4-inch, Android 3.1, PlayStation-certified tablet, and it’s still slated for release in September.

Although the clam-shell brother of the Tablet S, the S2, retains its original moniker for now, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it receive some kind of marketing rejig, too, before it hits shops later in the year.
