Sony to expand PSN to 'mobile devices'
Is Sony preparing its own version of OpenFeint for consumer electronics?

Joystiq is reporting from Sony's Media & Investor Conference presentation about the electronics giant's plans to expand the PlayStation Network into more of a unified brand spanning all its connected devices - including some new mobile ones.
The exact structure of this evolved edition of PSN hasn't really been revealed, other than a single user ID being employed for multiple devices. Currently being flown under the working title of the Sony Online Service, this new connected network will 'leverage the PSN infrastructure', and reads much like OpenFeint (and similar) on iPhone.
These online services include games, video, music and books, and are shown connecting the likes of the PS3 and PSP to more mainstream technology such as TVs, Sony's e-reader, computers, media players, phones and, according to Sony's announcement, "new mobile products".
Whether this is likely to involve basic social features, or potentially bring extravagant entertainment experiences such as PSP Minis to new devices is unclear at the moment, but it seems certain that Sony is making a huge effort to give a welcome, unified structure to its online presence.
