Sony extends PlayStation Home to mobile

Virtual world will be accessible from your phone

Sony extends PlayStation Home to mobile

Believe it or not, mobile phones played a part in Sony Computer Entertainment's keynote press conference at E3 last night.

No, MotorStorm isn't coming to phones (well, not yet anyway). Instead, it's the Home virtual world that's going mobile. Kind of. It doesn't involve walking around the 3D environments, but it does let you use the chat and communication elements of Home from your phone.

Oh, and you'll be able to upload photos taken using your phone's camera, to use them as decorations in your Home virtual apartment.

Genius or useless? It's too early to tell, but it's good to see Sony making the most of its links with Sony Ericsson – although it'll be a swizz if Home's mobile features don't work on other manufacturers' handsets too.
