Glu certainly isn't sniffing at new investment from Time Warner
Okay, so this isn’t exactly about a game, but we thought that it was worth bringing to your attention anyway as it isn’t everyday that multi-million dollar deals are done with mobile publishers…[cue muted discussion in office]…err, oh apparently it is virtually every day that such deals are done, but hell we’re going to tell you about this one anyway.
Basically, media giants Time Warner have made ‘a strategic investment’ in Glu Mobile as part of the company’s D round of funding, whatever that is. Whilst this is certainly good news for all at Glu who will no doubt see some shiny new cars arriving on Monday, it could be even better news for mobile gamers. Not only does it mean that Glu can invest in making more great games, particularly ones associated with Time Warner’s many brands and businesses, but it also shows that huge media companies are getting increasingly excited about the entertainment prospects of those lumps of plastic and silicon we keep in our pockets, hence more cracking content will be on the way!
In case you were worried though, Pocket Gamer has no intention of selling out to the big boys and its car park will remain filled with old bangers and bicycles for some time to come!
