Raspberry Pi on the receiving end of an Ice Cream Sandwich
Tiny device not to be trifled with
If you fancy some Android Ice Cream Sandwich with your Raspberry Pi, then you're in luck.
On the Raspberry Pi blog last night, project director Eben Upton revealed that his team has been working on porting Android 4.0 (a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich) onto the company's credit card-sized computer board.
Previous attempts at porting the Android OS over to the Raspberry Pi have melted in the sun, but this early build is looking rather promising, with full graphics and video acceleration on the menu.
The only thing missing at the moment is full audio support, but once the issues with AudioFlinger have been resolved, there'll be nothing to stop you booting up Android 4.0 on your Raspberry Pi device.
According to the Raspberry Pi Foundation's Liz Upton, a release candidate build of Android 4.0 should be available to download as soon as next month.
