PSP does educational software
US teachers harness the power and popularity of PSP to get kids learning

Admittedly, this isn't quite as exciting as the next PSP Grand Theft Auto game. PLATO Learning, a US provider of computer-based and e-learning solutions, has decided to release its software on PSP beginning in April.
PLATO Achieve Now consists of 57 games designed to be fun and interactive while helping elementary and middle school students improve academic proficiency in key areas such as maths, arts and reading. Currently the games offer more than 2,000 hours of content.
That's a lot of homework.
According to PLATO, Achieve Now is a great fit for PSP because the control system is intuitive and the high-resolution widescreen brings the educational content to life. Plus it's portable, of course, so you can get the blighters doing their learning everywhere and anywhere.
"Interactive gaming helps build valuable problem-solving skills through play, and PLATO Achieve Now helps harness those skills by adding rigorous academic content to the gaming experience – better than a boring worksheet," said Todd Brekhus, vice president of product and market management for PLATO Learning.
Indeed, we remember those worksheets from our day and they were certainly boring, not to mention badly photocopied. Who knows if this will catch on outside of the US but at least it proves it's not just DS that can do educational brain training style games.
