PSP 2 to be unveiled at E3?
Take it with a pinch of salt

Gaming business website MCV has heard from a 'senior industry source' that Sony will be revealing the true successor to the PSP at next month's E3 games convention.
Based on the significant marketing spends at two key publishers, plus another publisher withholding talking about future PSP plans until Sony makes a specific announcement, the source believes Sony is ramping up to unleash its next big portable console.
The PSP is a good six years old at this point and has seen four iterations, ranging from the slimmer and lighter PSP-2000, to the UMD-less PSPgo, which relies entirely on digital downloads. Sales for the PSPgo have been pretty sobering for Sony.
Nintendo is set to show off the 3DS on stage next month, its handheld that can pump out 3D visuals without the silly specs, so E3 2010 would be as good a time as any for Sony to show what's next.
That said, we'd be more than a little surprised if this is indeed what will happen. At this stage we're thinking a more likely tactic for Sony would be to drop the price of the PSPgo to the $99/£99 mark as a last-ditch attempt at renewing interest in its digital-loving handheld.
We'll find out on June 15th, when E3 kicks off.
