Pogo Hops Onto O2 I-Mode
EA’s Pogo games portal makes its European debut on O2’s new I-mode service

EA’s Pogo.com gaming portal, long an internet favourite (it attracts around 14 million visitors a month in the US) with punters looking for a quick fix of gaming fun, is launching on O2’s new I-mode service this February. It’s a pairing of firsts; O2 is the first UK network to offer an I-mode service and it’s the first place that Pogo will be appearing. With three games available at launch, including Poppit!, Tri Peaks Solitaire and Turbo 21, customers will pay a subscription service to be able to play them rather than a one-off fee for each title.
At the time of writing we had no pricing information but, if it’s reasonable, Pogo might just be onto a winner; the games are of the casual arcade and puzzle style and are designed to be picked up easily, played for a spare few minutes and then finished, meaning you won’t feel ripped off if you don’t return to the game.
John Burns, one of EA Mobile’s head honchos, explained the benefits of the deal between his company and O2. “As we continue to accelerate in the mobile gaming space, having an exciting casual games offering for consumers is another step in our strategy to engage more consumers in pick-up-and-play, on the go gaming experiences.”
You can expect to find more Pogo titles hopping onto O2’s I-mode portal over the coming months.
