This Wednesday, Sony will rebrand its PlayStation Network (PSN) as the Sony Entertainment Network (SEN), which will help to establish a "global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account".

On the same day, Sony's PS Vita will receive its first significant firmware update, which will introduce an all-new Google-powered Map application.

This app is expected to pack standard features such as the ability to search for directions and view building information.

Furthermore, the Vita's Photos app will benefit from a minor refresh. From Wednesday, you'll finally be able to record video.

About time

To accompany this firmware update, Sony will release a new version of its Content Manager application designed especially for Vita owners that possess a Mac.

Said application is essential for transferring data to and from the company's latest handheld.

Keep your eyes peeled for the forthcoming update.
