With companies like Apple and Motorola so quick to point out the shortcomings of their rivals whilst ignoring their own deficiencies, it’s refreshing to see a leading manufacturer own up to making a mistake for once.
Speaking in an interview with Mobile Industry Review, Nokia’s executive vice president of markets Anssi Vanjoki has admitted that the company messed up with its flagship N97 phone, lamenting that in terms of user experience the device was a “tremendous disappointment”.
The N97 came pre-loaded with a revised version of the Symbian OS but most users found it confusing and counter-intuitive. Vanjoki admits this is something which the firm “did not anticipate” and that thanks to various firmware upgrades, the issue has now been largely resolved.
If only all mobile firms were as honest…
