NGP hit by Japan tsunami delay, may not see worldwide release before 2011
Will Europe get the new handheld first?
The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan have led to multiple disruptions for Japanese gaming, with plenty of delays from various AAA publishers.
According to Jack Tretton, president of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, we may well see a delay to the upcoming PlayStation NGP too.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Tretton noted that production problems in Japan have led to Sony considering a single region release this year, rather than a worldwide release.
"It may be the straw that says ‘maybe we get to just one market by the end of the year’" he said. However, he didn't specify which region would receive the NGP this year.
With rumours circulating last month that Europe could be getting the handheld first, perhaps 2011 will see a NGP PAL-only release.
