New iPhone rumoured to pack a bigger graphical punch and better wi-fi

And it’ll be out in July

New iPhone rumoured to pack a bigger graphical punch and better wi-fi

The Apple rumour mill is well and truly turning, grinding out tiny morsels of indigestible grit among the odd grain of truth.

In other words, people are spouting all kinds of crazy stuff about a hypothetical (at this point) new iPhone.

An interesting one has emerged from Boy Genius, claiming to have seen an internal AT&T (the American telecoms giant which has exclusive rights to iPhone in the country) memo on the new handset. Apparently it will be announced in June, released in July and will feature super-whizzy 7.2 Mps OTA Internet.

Another hardware-related rumour that’s circulating, this time over on MacRumours, is that an all new performance-boosting chipset, the Marvell PXA168 CPU, is being lined up for the handset.

From a gaming perspective, we find it hard to imagine that Apple would be encouraging DS/DSi-style fragmentation this early in the iPhone’s life, so such hardware would probably just be used to improve the speed and efficiency of the all-round iPhone experience.
