iOS

Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad mid-week releases.

As you all probably know by now, we produce this article each week because we're simply too busy to bring you a story on every single new game that hits the App Store.

These games have recently hit Apple's New Zealand outlet, meaning they should be available to download in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

iPhone Michael Jackson: The Experience
By Ubisoft - buy for iPhone

Ever wanted to be Michael Jackson?

No, me neither. But, now you can, anyway. Michael Jackson: The Experience has been available for the iPad since December 2011, but this new release means you can now also play it on your iPhone.

In this rhythm-based affair, you draw shapes on your device's screen in order to make the King of Pop bust a move to some of his most infamous hits.

iPad Gasketball
By Mikengreg - download free for iPad

Gasketball is an H.O.R.S.E.-esque basketball game that features 100 single-player levels and an online mode that allows you to compete against your buddies.

You can even grab a friend and play on a single iPad.

Universal Pitfall!
By Activision - buy for iPhone and iPad

Those of you who were born in the early '80s will probably remember a rock-solid Atari 2600 platformer called Pitfall!, which often resulted in your furiously shouting at your TV after plummeting to your death for the 100th time.

Anyway, that fury-inducing game has been re-envisioned and re-booted for iOS devices. It's now a Temple Run-esque experience, filled with traps, treasure, and an erupting volcano.

DMBX 2 - Mountain Bike and BMX
By Randerline - buy for iPhone and iPad

DMBX 2 features a mix of fast-paced downhill races and fun-packed stunt challenges that are spread across 12 unique levels and two different game modes: Career and Quick Play.

If, like me, you simply don't know how to ride a bike, fear not: there's a tutorial available that'll teach you everything you need to know to become a champ.

Chimpact
By Chillingo - buy for iPhone and iPad

Your aim in our first Chillingo title of the week is to traverse 36 stages collecting bananas, avoiding obstacles, and nabbing hidden gems to unlock achievements.

If you haven't already guessed, this title sees you take on the role of a chimp. There are four different faeces-throwing critters to unlock and use - all of which have different abilities.

Happy Squirrels
By Chillingo - download free for iPhone and iPad

Chillingo's second new release of the week is a time-management title in which you have to look after a bunch of cute and cuddly squirrels.

In Happy Squirrels, you have to build multiple accommodations, saunas, and nightclubs; and complete mini-games to keep the little nut lovers happy.

You can compete against other players via Game Center leaderboards.

Super Mole Escape
By Adult Swim - buy for iPhone and iPad

Think you can break out of the Big House? If so, here's your chance to prove it, using one of Super Mole Escape's seven unique characters - all of which have different play styles and upgrades.

If you're a bit of a loner, you can play by yourself. If you fancy a bit of company, however, you can bring your buddies and strangers from around the world along with you for the ride.

Kingdoms & Lords
By Gameloft - download free for iPhone and iPad

Kingdoms & Lords may just be the most interesting new release of this week.

According to its App Store description, this title combines two different genres: strategy and simulation. So, on one hand, you're tasked with forming an army and attacking enemy forces. And on the other, you're asked to grow crops and raise animals.

As you can see, it looks ruddy nice.

Anthony Usher
Anthony Usher
Anthony is a Liverpool, UK-based writer who fell in love with gaming while playing Super Mario World on his SNES back in the early '90s. When he isn't busy grooming his beard, you can find him replaying Resident Evil or Final Fantasy VII for the umpteenth time. Aside from gaming, Anthony likes hiking, MMA, and pretending he’s a Viking.
