Limited supply of HP TouchPad units on the way to meet 'overwhelming demand' since fire sale
Software update to TouchPad's webOS planned, too
It's been killed off, flogged off, and hacked to run Android. But HP's discontinued TouchPad isn't quite finished yet, with news coming that the ill-fated slate will be getting a resurrection - of sorts.
HP has confirmed that it's planning to issue one more over-the-air software update for the TouchPad, the first since it was canned a week ago.
What should TouchPad owners expect?
Well, HP has promised that the OTA update to webOS will "enhance the platform" and "add functionality", but the company isn't keen to elaborate...yet.
The New BatchEven more bizarrely, HP says that it'll be manufacturing another batch of TouchPads in the coming weeks, to meet "overwhelming demand".
The company hasn't specified when this final batch will hit stores, only to say that you'll be waiting "at least a few weeks" for the "limited quantity" being produced.
And the webOS / TouchPad saga could be taking a few more more twists soon, if the rumour that Samsung is in talks with HP about a potential purchase of webOS is to be believed.
