Hackers release video of HP TouchPad running modified Android Gingerbread OS

Well, that was quick.

Mere days after HP officially discontinued its webOS platform - and cleared TouchPad stocks with a £89/$99 fire sale - modders have posted a video showing a HP TouchPad running a version of the Android operating system.

Don't get too excited, though. The hacked TouchPad is clearly running Cyanogenmod, a modified release of Gingerbread - not the tablet-specific Android OS Honeycomb.

And in any case, the group says that it's a long way off a public release.

The final goal is to release a "'multi-boot' solution", so you get to choose which OS you want to launch.
