It's a mirage. It has to be.
Can you see it, in the distance? Sure you can. Look again – lurking in the shadows at the end of next week. That's right, 16 DS and PSP games patiently waiting their turn on the shop shelves.
They're full of enthusiasm now, but they should expect a crowded, competitive affair given they follow this Friday's ten new offerings.
26 handheld games in the space of eight days? If you've been following this weekly release update you'll know that's about as likely as humankind saving this planet from the catastrophic climate changes it has caused.
We could accept it if it were Christmas, of course (the number of releases, that is – no amount of festive spirits could ever make us think carbon negative living is a responsible way to conduct your life). But it's not. It's not even Easter, in fact, which is perhaps the best indication this is all an illusion.
Of course, we could just have spent too much time in the recent spring sun that, thanks to the eradication of the ozone layer, is exceptionally strong for this time of year. Or maybe we've been monitoring the situation long enough to be able to predict certain patterns.
Either way, we'll only find out after the event. You know, when it's too late to do anything else about it.
