The latest Japanese hardware sales charts (for the week ending May 11th) are in, and it looks like there's still no danger of PSP being shunted from its now-familiar position on the top spot.

Sales of the handheld have barely altered from last week with the figures showing 89,884 units were sold, compared to 92,411 last week.

Both Nintendo consoles have gained some ground on PSP, however. The second best-selling console Wii's sales figures rose to 67,308, up from 48,796 the previous week. In third place, DS shifted 51,228 units, also up from 42,435 in the week prior.

The fact PSP sales still aren't dropped off some time after the release of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, the game that got them surging in the first place, is great news for Sony. Let's see how far the momentum carries the company's handheld, eh?
