Google seemingly confirms Android 4.1 will be called Jelly Bean
And that the Galaxy Nexus will get a taste of it
Google has seemingly (and inadvertently) confirmed that the next iteration of its popular smartphone and tablet operating system, Android 4.1, will be called Jelly Bean, and will be making its way to the Galaxy Nexus in the not-too-distant future.
This little tidbit of information was discovered by shoppers in the US on the Google Nexus site, which carried the following reference: "The latest smartphone from Google, soon the first phone with Android 4.1 Jell…"
This reference has since been removed by Google, but not before the quick-fingered user who found it posted the details to the XDA developer forums.
Users have also uncovered an image that shows the forthcoming OS running on a Nexus device. It's pretty small - at only 300px wide - but it's large enough to see a new transparent Google Search Bar.
Google is expected to announce Android 4.1 at its I/O developer conference in San Francisco next week, so we'll find out for sure then.
