Glu lands The Price is Right and Family Feud licensing rights for mobile

But where does that leave Family Fortunes?

Glu lands The Price is Right and Family Feud licensing rights for mobile
|

Glu has undertaken a multi-year partnership with Fremantle Media Enterprises to exclusively develop mobile versions of the popular game shows Family Feud and The Price is Right in Europe, Asia and Australia.

The shows have been consistently popular for enough years to make this a significant deal, and one Glu is evidently very excited about.

"The Price is Right and Family Feud are regarded as heavyweight game show brands across Europe, Australia and Asia, and this partnership offers tremendous opportunities for both Glu and FME," said Frank Keeling, managing director of publishing at Glu. "Our development and marketing expertise in dealing with high value brands like these means the mobile games will compliment the brands perfectly, with massive appeal to their target audience."

The Price is Right first aired in the US in 1956, making it the longest-running game show in television history. Family Feud has aired in more than 45 countries since its 1976 launch, but raises a Pocket Gamer eyebrow when it comes to licensing.

Undoubtedly this has all been worked out by the respective owners of the licences, but we've already seen no less than three Family Fortunes mobile adaptations from Player X in the UK – the same, localised franchise as Family Feud. Whether or not this will make any difference to the branding of new adaptations or how the games will be distributed over here is unclear at the moment, but hitting 'Track It!' now will ensure you hear about the top results of our survey as soon as they're in.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
