Gamers unable to 'differentiate between a phenomenon and something that is ho-hum', says Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime

According to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, gamers are generally "unable to differentiate between a phenomenon and something that is ho-hum".

"One of the things that, on one hand, I love and, on the other hand, that troubles me tremendously about not only our fan base but the gaming community at large is that, whenever you show information, the perspective is: Thank you, but I want more. Thank you, but give me more," the Nintendo boss said in an interview with website Kotaku.

Speaking specifically about the forthcoming launch of Nintendo's new home console, the Wii U, Reggie cited the recent announcement of new Pikmin and Mario games as a perfect example of hard-to-please fan base.

"I mean, it is insatiable. For years this community has been asking, where's Pikmin? Where's Pikmin? Where's Pikmin?' We give them Pikmin. And then they say: what else?," he said. "For years this community has said: Damn it Reggie, when you launch, you better launch with a Mario game. So we launch with a Mario game, and they say, so, what's more?".

We, obviously, can't tell the difference between a phenomenon and something that's ho-hum, either, as we think releasing a Nintendo 3DS XL without adding a second stick is a big mistake.
