Beat Hazard Ultra (Universal)

Beat Hazard Ultra is a Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning twin-stick shoot-'em-up that uses the tunes stored on your iPhone to create levels.

As you blow your opponents to smithereens, you can level-up your craft and unlock 23 different perks, such as powerful missiles and score boosters.

At review, we said that Beat Hazard Ultra has a "strong enough shooting mechanic to avoid any accusations of being a gimmick". Download it, in other words.

Arkanold (Universal)

Arkanold is a Breakout-esque title that charges you with demolishing a variety of differently coloured blocks. How? By moving a small platform around to ricochet a ball against the blocks.

You do this across 30 challenging Arcade levels, all of which feature ten handy power-ups, leaderboards, and in-game chat.

You can even create your own levels using the game's special Editor, and share them with other players from around the world.
