EA Mobile reveals autumn line-up

EA Mobile is holding itself close to the Sports arm of the gaming giant this autumn, as it just announced a trio of sporting titles scheduled for the pocket gaming arena. Two of them are American football titles, strangely enough, but there's also a NASCAR one thrown in for variety.

"EA's sports titles are some of our most popular games across all platforms, including mobile," said Adam Sussman, veep of publishing at EA Mobile. "Players will notice the great detail we've put into the games to make them as authentic as possible, including the use of motion capture technology for realistic movements and up-to-the-minute commentary by well-known sportscasters."

I love the word 'sportscaster'. It sounds like a clairvoyant who specialises in predicting the pools results, or some kind of mage with a perm and knee-length shorts.

Erm, anyway. The first of the sporting trio will be a mobile adaptation of the recent console game, Madden NFL '09. With full rosters for all 32 NFL teams, you can use the Front Office to trade and substitute players as the game progresses. Two modes of play (Play Now and Season) give you a choice between a seven- or 16-game season complete with commentary by sportscasters John Madden and Al Michaels.

NCAA Football '09 approaches the world of American football from a college perspective, allowing you to play as one of the 32 top NCAA teams in either a seven or 12 game season. It matches the biggest college rivalries, including Michigan vs Ohio State, UCLA vs USC, Alabama vs Auburn, and more. It even features fight songs from all 32 teams and commentary from sportscasters Brad Nessler, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso.

Finally there's EA Sports NASCAR '09, a racing title featuring 19 top NASCAR drivers, including Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon. Racing against real NASCAR opponents on up to 12 authentic tracks across the country, you get to draft, block and accelerate your way to the chequered flag. The game allows you to choose your favourite NASCAR race or compete in the entire 26-event NASCAR season.

Spanner Spencer
Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
