Japanese magazine giant and publisher of Famitsu, Enterbrain, has revealed console hardware and software sales figures for the first half of 2007 fiscal year (covering March to September).

The results put the DS and PSP at number one and two in the chart respectively, comfortably outselling all three of the rival home consoles (Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360). DS has sold 3.47 million units over the six-month period, while 1.07 million PSPs have been shifted.

Enterbrain also commented on the value of the computer game market in Japan, which has risen 21.7 per cent on last year, attributing much of this rise to the success of Nintendo's DS.

Indeed, Nintendo has raised its worldwide net profit outlook for the fiscal year ending in March by ¥20 billion (£85 million) to a total of ¥120b (£510m).

Meanwhile, Enterbrain's software sales charts put two DS titles – The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 – in the top 5 best sellers, and one PSP title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
