Dell launches Mobile Application Store via PocketGear

With Dell's Android-based Streak tablet launched in the UK, and soon to be available in the US, the company has backed the device with an app store.

To be strictly accurate however, Dell's Mobile Application Store is a rebadged version of PocketGear's white label solution.

For that reason, consumers are faced with the confusing option of choosing between the full range of BlackBerry, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm OS apps. Future proofed The only two Dell smartphones currently featured on the site are the Streak and Mini 3iX, both of which run Android.

More Android-based smartphones and a Windows Phone 7 launch device are expected to become available later in 2010 however.

In keeping with PocketGear's terms, the store supports credit card and PayPal billing.
